Who is Pat?
Pat met her husband, Roger, in 1969 when they were both music students at
Arkansas Tech University. She completed her Master of Music at Michigan
State University and Roger is an alumnus of University of Southern
Mississippi with a Master of Music also. They moved to Baton Rouge in 1979
from Nashville, Tennessee, when Roger joined the music department at LSU as
the music instrument technician.
Pat's career in real estate has been much like her career in music. People
love to work with Pat because of the enthusiasm she brings to her work. She
believes that enjoying her job is the key to her success. Newcomers to Baton
Rouge have found that Pat could have coined the phrase "Laisez les bon temps
rouler" (Let the good times roll!). Client Gail Landry wrote: "Fun and
professionalism would be an oxymoron except when it refers to Pat Wattam!"
Pat's customers and friends know whom to call when they want to know what's
happening in and around Baton Rouge. She loves the warm climate of South
Louisiana because it allows people to pursue their favorite outdoor
activities year round. If you like sports, then you will enjoy year round
soccer, golf, tennis and more! If you like to garden you'll find lots of
different flowers and vegetables to grow here. Even Pat, who is known for
NOT having a green thumb, can grow beautiful flowers!
Golfers delight in having the chance to stroll the links nearly every day of
the year, while tennis players, like Pat and her husband, Roger, have the
same opportunity for play. If you are interested in tennis, Pat can direct
you to the nearest court, club, pro, or help you join a USTA team so that
you can compete regularly. Horseback riding is also popular in the area -
whether your style is Western or English, there are plenty of other riders
waiting for you to join them! Pat can direct you to a stable or a riding
instructor, or even riding camps for the kids!
Weekends in Louisiana are filled with many different festivals - from the
"Strawberry Festival" in Ponchatoula (a great place to shop for antiques and
eat some fabulous German food too) to the "Chili Cook-Off" in Ascension
Parish you can never say you don't have anything to do when living in Baton
Rouge. There is a festival nearly every weekend, somewhere close by!!
Some of the other things Pat loves about Louisiana are the many parks to go
hiking, the zoos and Wildlife centers to see animals in their natural
setting, riding in an airboat to see alligators )and if you are lucky, you
may even get to hold a baby alligator!!), and the many historic plantations
and civil war sites to visit. Louisiana is filled with history. One of the
'must sees' is the D-Day Museum in New Orleans. It is one of the best
museums Pat has ever been to - not only size but the quality of information.
Let her know what you'd like to do and she will point you in the right
direction.
With a very active arts community, Baton Rouge hosts a number of art
galleries and, with LSU, wonderful student productions in music and theater
at little or not cost. The Baton Rouge Symphony is one of the finest for a
town this size. The Baton Rouge Little Theater provides quality theater as
well as summer acting classes for children and teens. The smaller Swine
Palace Theater offers more intimate settings of plays and music. Playmakers
is a special theater for children to learn to enjoy this type of
entertainment. Children as young as 4 can enjoy sitting on the floor, close
to the stage, and meeting the actors afterward. The children are taught,
prior to the performance, proper theater etiquette. New Orleans being just
over an hour away, there are even more things to do with your free time.
Some of Pat's favorites are going to rock concerts at UNO Lakefront Arena or
Broadway productions at the Saenger Theater. But ask Roger what his favorite
New Orleans attraction is and he will hastily tell you about O'Flaherty's in
the French Quarter. Here you can delight in the performances of wonderful
Celtic musicians, dancers, actors and writers while hoisting a pint of your
favorite Irish stout. On Saturday evenings you can even try your hand at
Irish folk dancing in the adjoining bar.
And speaking of food, all we can say is loosen your belt or join a gym!
Maybe the fabulous Cajun food is why you see so many people out walking and
jogging in Baton Rouge!!! Although cooking is not her specialty (except for
her annual Client Christmas Party where her crab dip is the main target for
the guests!), knowing where to eat it!! Ask Pat's advice on where to eat
when you're in town!
Pat and her husband love to travel and photography is another major interest
of hers (who do you think takes those fabulous Visual Tours of her
listings!). You'll enjoy the photos of places they have visited while in her
office. You'd better love the Beatles because they decorate her office, as
do photos of visits to Liverpool, Abbey Road and other places of Beatle
interest!!!.
Pat tells every client, "Selling you one home is nice, but what I want is
to make a raving fan, someone that will refer all their friends and family
to me. If I don't do a good job on the front end, I will never see those
referrals. What I want to create are customers for life!" Let her help
make Baton Rouge your new home. So whether you're relocating to Baton
Rouge and need information on the city or just making a move across town and
need someone to look out for your best interests, make your first call to
Pat Wattam and her Team.
